1. Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial (Victoria Memorial Hall) is a large marble building in Kolkata, which was built between 1906 and 1921 in the memory of Queen Victoria. The Memorial Hall is located near Jawaharlal Nehru road on the Maidan (grounds) by the bank of the Hooghly River.

2. Maidan

The Maidan, popularly known as Brigade Parade Ground is the largest urban park in Kolkata in the country of India. The field is very much famous as it is a home to many playgrounds that include Eden Garden, Football Stadium, and Kolkata race course. The place is surrounded by the lush green belt, which is also referred as the “lungs of Kolkata”. Apart from grounds and parks, the place is dotted with several statues and pieces of architecture, notably the Victoria Memorial. It is a historical and cultural center of Kolkata as well as a center of leisure and entertainment for all the people of the city.

3. St. Paul’s Cathedral

St. Paul’s Cathedral is said to be the largest cathedral in Kolkata and the first Episcopal Church in Asia, which was built in the overseas territory of the British Empire. It is located at the Cathedral Road in order to provide more space for the growing population of the European community in Calcutta in the 1800s.

4. Lascar War Memorial

Located on the Napier Road in the Hastings area of Kolkata, lascar war memorial is a memorial dedicated to the memory of 896 Lascars. The memorial is highly dedicated to the sailors who died fighting for the British Navy during the Great War of 1914 – 18 (World War I).

5. St. John’s Church

St. John’s Church, originally a cathedral, is the third oldest church in Calcutta (Kolkata) only next to the Armenian and the Old Mission Church. The place was among the first public buildings erected by the East India Company after Kolkata became the effective capital of British India. The construction of the St. John’s Church started in 1784, with Rs 30,000 risen through a public lottery, and was completed in 1787. Now, it is Located at the North-Western corner of Raj Bhavan.

6. Kalighat

Kalighat is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in South Kolkata, India. The place is highly populated and vibrant, showcasing a rich history of cultural intermingling with the various foreign incursions into the area over the time.

7. Indian Museum

The Indian Museum is the largest and oldest museum in India, founded by the Asiatic Society of Bengal in the year 1814. The museum has rare collections of antiques, fossils, mummies, skeletons, armor, ornaments, and Mughal paintings.

8. Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir is the most famous temple in Kolkata located on Ashutosh Chowdhury Avenue, Ballygunge. With the time, the temple has become one of the most preferred tourist destinations. It was built by the topmost industrialist Birla family. In the morning, the temple is open from 5.30 A.M. to 11 A.M. and in the evening from 4.30 P.M. to 9 P.M.

9. Nicco Park

Nicco Park is the well-known amusement park in the city that was built to attract tourists by providing family-friendly recreation as well as educative entertainment. The park is located in Salt Lake City, Kolkata. Nicco Park started on October 13, 1991, and since then it has been referred to as the Disneyland of West Bengal. Nicco Park offers a clean and soothing environment that makes you feel in heaven.

10. Raj Bhavan

Raj Bhavan is the official residence of the Governor of West Bengal built in the year 1803. It is located in the beautiful city of Kolkata and in the pre-independence days, it was even known as the Government House.
